adisyn's 1 month appointment

Our little peanut is not so little anymore! Well, I take that back. She is still little - just not so little. Today was her one month check up and she weighs 7lbs 8oz! She has gained 3lbs since birth. I cannot believe it. She is also 19 inches (2 inch growth since birth) and her head circumference is 13 inches (1 inch growth).

It's crazy to think that she weighs 1oz more than Caden did at birth.

Way to go Adi! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you.

On a not-so-good note, she may have a cold. The doctor said her throat is a little red and she has been congested. Caden is just getting over his cold and now Ryan has one. It's circulating through our house. Ugh.

caden's first "real" haircut......

My first born's hair is all gone! Caden had his first real haircut on Sunday. Although I did not agree to this haircut I am happy about it now. I do still miss his long wavy hair, but he looks so grown up now and it's so much easier to wash and rinse. My BIL and *dear* husband thought a good time to buzz Caden's hair was while I was locked in a room (for privacy) to nurse Adisyn. Poor Caden was traumatized and would NOT leave my side after his haircut.

See all this hair?

"all done" as Caden would say.

Adisyn is doing great. She is approaching her 1 month birthday already. I can't believe it. I am anxious to get through the next few months where she'll be (hopefully) sleeping better. She doesn't sleep too bad, but she sure makes a lot of noises while she is sleeping which keeps her mommy up. I think I'm averaging about 5-6 hours of broken up sleep a night. This will be less once I go back to work, which I'm dreading. I do not function well on no sleep. I'm an emotional wreck on the bad days and cry almost all day long. Thankfully we have more good days than bad.
Don't you just love this cute little face?!

First Father's Day

We have a great past two nights. Caden slept through the night for the very first time and two nights in a row. He has been waking around 4-4:30am, which is perfect as that is the time I get up for work. So hopefully he can keep that going. Typically he wakes up around 1:30am and then 4:30am. He does not seem to be as gassy since last Wednesday evening. In fact, he has been such a joy and all smiles. Since Wednesday we have only had two crying fits because he was either too hot or tired.

Today is Ryan's first Father's Day. I put together a collage of pictures of Ryan and Caden with this poem: (I found this poem on Amazon). It made me cry the first time I read it.

MY DADDY'S HAND
Daddy, Take my hand in yours and you will plainly see,
How very much I need you now to love and care for me.
As my little hand grows, I will need you even more,
Everything I do in life, I have never done before.
Teach me to be kind and loving, sharing and forgiving,
Show me through your acts of love the pure joy of living.
The years will pass by quickly and one day I will be grown,
I will pass what you have taught me onto children of my own.
Hold me always in your thoughts and remember when we are apart,
The special love between a child and a daddy's heart.

Playing catch up..

I'm not going to lie.. the first 4 weeks were the hardest, but like everyone told me - it does get easier. It probably wouldn't have been so hard if I had more sleep, but that doesn't happen when you have a baby. In the beginning Caden would wake up every 1-2 hours to eat. I'm breastfeeding and absolutely loving it. When I first found out I was pregnant I was not going to BF, and I'm glad I did the research and chose to instead. It just came so naturally. It is such a bonding experience and I will be so sad when I eventually give it up. As all babies lose weight after they were born, Caden weighed 6lbs 12oz when he left the hospital. Two days later I had to take him to the pediatrician and he was up to 6lbs 14oz. One week later I had to take him back for a weigh in to be sure he was getting enough food from me and he gained a whole pound in one week! I've heard it can take 2 weeks for a baby to get back up to their birth weight and Caden did this in one week with an additional 7 ounces. He is such a good eater.

My mom flew in when Caden was 3 weeks old and stayed for about a week. I think she was in her glory seeing her first grandson. It was great having her here and helping me out. Her company kept me from feeling so lonely. With Ryan working midnights and sleeping during the day it was getting very lonesome for me. We took Caden to the pediatrician for his one month check up on May 13th and he was up to 9lbs 10oz. Way to go Caden! Here are a few photos from when my mom was in visiting:

We had Caden's pictures taken when he was one month old. That was not much fun for any us. I felt rushed and poor Caden was hungry and tired. He was fussy most of the time, but we got a few good pictures. I didn't order the newborn pictures from the hospital, so I that is why we did the one month pictures of Caden. His pictures do not do him justice.
I was off work for 7 weeks and they were the fastest 7 weeks of my life. I remember when I was first pregnant and how slow those 7 weeks went by. The last 4 weeks of my pregnancy dragged on and on. Now here we are back to work and Caden will be 2 months on Tuesday, June 17th. It was hard going back to work. I'm only working Monday through Thursday right now, so having Friday off to spend with Caden is a blessing. I can't believe how big he is getting already. He has the cutest smile in the world. When you see that smile it makes all those hard days all worth it.

He recently discovered his left hand and sucks away at it. It looks like he is trying to find his thumb, but hasn't quite mastered keeping it in his mouth. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of him.
