the big day....

All was the same with Adisyn at my appointments yesterday, which I'm trying to take as good news as I was able to go home. My fluid is still low - about the same as a week ago. Adisyn did perfect during the NST, which is great.

I had to see another OB since my midwife did not have any appointments. Again, this OB reminded me why I prefer midwives. If I never had to see an OB again, I'd be happy with that. Thursday I do go in for one more ultrasound to measure her fluids and one last NST.

I'll be 39 weeks on Friday, and the high risk OB recommended induction if I do not deliver before then. My induction is scheduled for Friday, January 15th. As much as I do not want to be induced I am actually more at peace having a date set. Of course I still hope she comes before then, but I had no idea I'd actually feel better having a date.

How ever it turns out we'll be holding our baby girl by Friday. I cannot wait to meet her and make sure she is okay.

thursday appointment update

I'm posting an update which means I'm not in the hospital being induced, so I'm thankful for that.

The ultrasound today showed a slight increase of amniotic fluid from 6.2 to 7.something. Although I'm still in the low range it is not below 5, but I'll take it. The ultrasound tech did check the blood flow through the umbilical cord (even though I am going for a doppler ultrasound on Monday) and she said it was in the normal range. Yay! Adisyn did well during the NST. She was sleeping as soon as they hooked me up, so they gave me a juice box and that did the trick. Silly girl kept kicking off the belt around my belly.

My midwife called in sick today, so I had to to see one of the OBs in the office. She was okay, but reminded me why I switched from an OB to a midwife. As she was checking my dilation she explains she is going to sweep my membranes. I was so upset at first... that she would do this without asking me. However, she is aware I want to go into labor on my own and apparently sweeping your membranes has a 50/50 chance of helping that happen quicker.

Instead of bawling my eyes out (I felt violated! haha!) I am thankful that I was sent home and not to the hospital to be induced.

37 week appointment....

I did not enjoy the roller coaster ride I went on yesterday. Not. One. Bit.

My midwife and I went through the usual at my 37 week appointment yesterday. She asked if I thought Adisyn felt small. Um, I don't know ~ I can't really tell, but I do not feel that my stomach is as big as it was with Caden. I am carrying a girl this time and maybe differently?

I was still sent for an ultrasound to check the size of the baby and fluid. It turns out that my amniotic fluid is on the low end. Apparently 5 is low and I am at 6.2. Adisyn is also measuring small too. They are estimating that she only weighs 5lbs 2oz. I have never been comfortable with an ultrasound machine predicting this weight as they are often wrong by a pound or two.

They did a non stress test at the office and Adisyn was doing great! This is good. I was still sent to the hospital for another NST, so the high risk doctor could review and make a decision on whether or I should be induced. Again, Adi did great on the NST. The high risk doctor said that at 37 weeks there is no reason I need to be pregnant since I am full term. She also said there is no absolute reason I need to be induced either. I chose not to be induced as I just turned full term last Friday and I do worry about lung maturity. If I was 38 weeks along, I may have gone ahead with the induction although I'd rather go into labor on my own. I am still 1cm dilated and now 70% effaced. During my ultrasound they could not see Adi's face because she was so far down in my pelvis. This is all good signs that I will go into labor on my own.

I left the hospital under restrictions of getting lots of kick counting, rest and drinking additional fluids. I go back to the doctors on Thursday for another NST and fluid measurement by ultrasound. If my fluids are any lower, I'll be sent straight to the hospital to start the induction. Again, praying that is not the case and I go into labor on my own.

I've been taking it easy today. Resting, drinking water, eating, and cartoon watching with my little man. I'm taking all I can get with my last moments with just Caden and me while we pray for the health of little Adi.

caden repeats words.... and an update on my 36 weeks appointment

I can't believe it! I actually got Caden on video repeating words after me - one right after another. It's funny how you forget what words your little one knows once you have them on video asking them to say them.

Two things to note: When I ask him to say "uh-oh", he throws his sucker on the ground first. Also, he always says "boom" after spinning in circles and falling on his bum. I couldn't get him to say "boom", but he did spin in circles with a little dance to follow.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday was my 36 week appointment with my midwife. BP and Adisyn's HB were great. I only gained 1lb in two weeks.

I'm dilated to 1cm and 50% effaced. I'm showing signs of progress two weeks earlier than I did with Caden, but it really doesn't mean anything. She said it was normal with your second baby and I could go earlier than my due date, but I could also go past January 22nd. Only time will tell, right?

My appointments are weekly until she arrives!

34 week appointment

All went well with my 34 week appointment today. I even got a surprise ultrasound! There were no doctors around and the ultrasound tech had some time to spare, so she gave me a free lookie-see at our baby Adisyn. I can't believe how different the pictures are when you are farther along.

She is broken up in two different shots. The left side of the picture are her legs and you can see her foot and all five toes! The shot to the right is her side profile. Her face up against the uterine wall, so it is hard to see.

Overall my appointment went well. Adi's HB was ranging from the high 130's to the low 140's. BP was great and I only gained 1lb in two weeks!! So much better than the 7lbs I gained the two weeks prior.

My next visit is in two weeks and then I'm weekly with my appointments until she arrives. I will be full term on New Year's Day. I'm not expecting to go early, and hoping she stays put for at least a couple weeks in January. I cannot believe she'll be here soon! It feels like such a short time ago I tested and found out I was pregnant. Sheesh!

"32 week" appointment

Today was my 32 week appointment with my midwife.. although I am not technically 32 weeks until Friday nor did I see my midwife. I was expecting to see my current midwife, Debra, but I met my new midwife instead. Debra is retiring from delivering babies and found a replacement. I was so darn tired at my appointment today I can't remember her replacements name. Note to self - pay attention next time!

Overall I did like the new midwife. She was a little spunky with her red hair, stylish glasses and black combat boots. We talked about what to watch for as it relates to preterm labor, however, I have no concerns of that happening. I carried Caden until 2 days before his due date and hoping to come close with this one. I did advise her I have no interest of being induced unless of course it is medically necessary. She felt the same as I thought she would. I did, however, tell her that I would ask for an epidural. She feels pretty strongly that I can do without, but will go with whatever I ask.

My BP was 122/80 and Adi's HB was ranging in the 120s-130s. I think she was sleeping again. The midwife was happy with both. Now let's talk about my weight gain. "Holy weight gain!". That is not something you want to hear from your midwife, but that is what I heard. 7 lbs in 2 weeks! Since my eating habits have not changed she really believes it is water weight and will continue to watch it.

Other than my weight gain the appointment went well. I go back in 2 1/2 weeks and then it is weekly appointments after that.

Perfect Appointment

Today was my 30 week appointment, although I'm not 30 weeks until Friday. It was an uneventful appointment which is great! My BP was 104/80 - perfect! Adi's heartbeat was 148 bpm - perfect! I passed by glucose test - perfect! I'm measuring on time - perfect! I gained 5lbs in 4 weeks - not so perfect.

My appointments are now every 2 weeks until I hit 36 weeks and then it's every week until she is here. I cannot believe how fast this has gone by. Yikes!

25th Week Prenatal Appt & My Self Feeder

I had my 25th week prenatal appointment today. It was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing. Adisyn's HB was 138 bmp. My midwife said she was probably sleeping. I've gained about 5-6lbs in the last month, which I'm not to happy about, however, my midwife said not to worry. I've gained a total of 25lbs so far. With Caden at 25 weeks I was up 21lbs, so I'm not that far off. I can't believe little Adi will be here in just 15 weeks or so. It's going to fly by!

: :

On another note - look who is continuing to feed himself! He is getting SO good at it even if his choice of foods are limited. The only food he will currently eat consists of cereal, grilled cheese, Gerber Graduates ravioli, chicken nuggets, apples, applesauce, and crackers. *sigh* Hopefully this doesn't last forever.

While I am excited for Caden to use more words I just love his "baby talk". My dad heard Caden over the phone talking like this and I'm hoping he'll be able to see this video :)

1/2 way there and my fussy butt eater...

20 weeks pregnant. Yikes. Half way there... well, I'm 21 weeks now so it's even closer. Where has the time gone? January feels so close now that fall is approaching. I had my midwife appointment on Monday and all went well. She said Adisyn is measuring just perfectly from the ultrasound pictures and my belly is measuring on time as well. The only downfall is that I've gained 19lbs so far. That is up 7lbs from how much I gained with Caden this far along. Double yikes! She subtly told me to lay off the carbs. I'm going to do my best.

::

I feel like there is so much to update on my lil man. We've continued having our challenging week with falling asleep without crying, but night 7 and 8 were a success! Let's hope we don't have to do this again. He has become a fussy eater these days. He went through this phase not too long ago and he's back at it. I've decided to accept it and give up being frustrated. Toddlers go through this phase and he will grow out of it... somewhat I hope!

Here he is when he LOVED to eat... scraping the bowl for any bites of raspberries he had left.

while his bestest friend took her favorite spot in the house...

If he will eat, he must do it on his own! When did he grow up so quickly?!

Caden brought Mommy some "dishes" to wash after dinner...

This face just melts my heart. I just love him to itty bitty pieces.

We are having a .........

GIRL!!!!
Today was the big day. We had our 18 week ultrasound. At first the tech was having a hard time seeing "in between" and she finally got a good shot. My gut was telling me a girl, although it wasn't as strong as when I was pregnant with Caden. Either way, I knew :)

Her HB was at 148 bpm. Last week at my prenatal appointment her HB was 152 bpm. The tech did say she looked great. She took a LOT of pictures. She did get a few 3D pictures, but the baby started turning around with her back to us. I think she may be camera shy.

We have a few names in mind, but still have not made a decision.

So there you have it. A girl :)

Happy 15 Months (& prenatal appointment)

Today marks 15 months old and 13 weeks for his brother or sister. Today is also the first day of of my second trimester.

It's hard to imagine that we have a 15 month old and another on the way. As always Caden is just a joy and we are so proud and blessed that God chose us to be his parents. He continues to be an active little boy. Always on the go and always getting into something. His new word these days is cookie, but he doesn't say it all that clear. He gets the C and kie... He will actually go over to the cupboard with his cookies and reach up saying "c-kie" I WILL be getting that on video this weekend. It's so stinkin cute.

Over the last few months Caden's separation anxiety from me has gone from crying hysterical to crying for a few seconds. This typically happens when I drop him off in the morning before work. By the time I reach the door or sometimes my car he has already stopped. I feel so much better knowing that. He does give the best cuddles before I leave though. I get as many as I can before I have to leave for work.

We are still on two naps a day. He generally takes a longer morning nap and usually an hour nap in the late afternoon. Occasionally he won't fall asleep in the late afternoon and sometimes it makes for a rough night.

I was hoping we would get Caden in the pool more often this summer, but the weather has been pretty cool. Most mornings I am driving to work with my heat on and it's mid July! It's ridiculous!

Time for some pictures and milestone progress:

Most babies should be able to . . .

Toddle well - Yes
Say up to five words - Mama, Doggy, Kitty, Cookie - okay, so he is one short. No big deal.
Climb stairs - Yes, but with Mommy or Daddy right behind him
Like to look at books and turn pages - Yes
Laugh at funny things - All the time

Some babies will probably be able to . . .
Walk well or runs - Yes

Draw lines - Hmmm, not sure we have tried this
Say no and shakes head - Just shakes his head no
Like to sing - I'm not sure he actually sings, but he could be and I just don't know it
Follow simple directions - Yes

Some babies could possibly be able to . . .

Walk up stairs - No
Want to help around the house - Haha! No!
Remember caregiver and separation anxiety lessens - We are getting there
Respond to verbal requests without signals of any type - Yes

I had my monthly routine prenatal appointment today. I've gained 1lb in 3 weeks and a total of 11lbs during my first trimester. Not too bad, but I've gained 5 more lbs than I did with my first trimester with Caden. With Caden I was 136lbs and now I am 148lbs. Yikes.
This little bugger was hiding again and I almost thought we would hear the baby's heartbeat. It turns out this baby is really low in my abdomen and we did eventually hear the most amazing sound in the world. The baby's HB was 158 - nice and strong. I go back a month from today.
